Mr WILLIAM WOO 吳肇基先生
Mr William Woo is the Managing Director of NIU Insurance Agency Ltd., and a senior and highly-respected executive who worked for a few international insurance companies. He has been promoting property and casualty business among the communities in Hong Kong for more than 60 years. In the mid and late 20th century, he actively participated in industry affairs. He promoted good practices through participation in the East Asian Insurance Congress and was the Chief Delegate in 1992 representing Hong Kong in Bali, Indonesia. In 1970, Mr Woo assumed responsibility as President of the HK Insurers Club and was the President of The Insurance Institute of HK in 1974-1975, promoting fraternity in the Anglo-Chinese insurance society. He is one of the few veterans who is still running an insurance agency of his own and remains active in providing insurance services with great enthusiasm for his customers at the age of 95.
In his earlier management capacity and leadership in fraternity clubs, Mr Woo brought insurance know-how, technical skills and management skills to the industry. He has groomed hundreds of subordinates and juniors.
In the 1940’s, Mr Woo devoted himself to helping others, having served in the Auxiliary Medical Service in HK and volunteered to serve during the Second World War in the China, Burma & India Theatre. He served in the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force in 1950. When peace came, he consciously boosted the interaction in the Anglo-Chinese community through the game of golf.
Mr ALWIN LAM 林文德先生
Mr Alwin Lam has been the Honorary Chairman of AIA Hong Kong and Macau since 2006. His career began in 1971 as an insurance agent and he has since held various senior management roles at leading multinational insurance companies. He won the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Worldwide Chinese Life Insurance Congress International Dragon Award Organisation in 2017.
aving served as Deputy Chairman of the Life Insurance Council of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers, Mr Lam was also a member of the Insurance Advisory Committee, with which he worked to advise the Chief Executive on matters relating to the insurance industry. He spearheaded the business expansion of AIA Hong Kong and set up new branch offices in Southern China, and established a best-in-class training centre in Guangzhou. As a true leader at AIA for over 20 years, his management philosophy has had profound and far-reaching implications as AIA developed into one of the largest insurance companies in Hong Kong.
Mr Lam encourages the company to give back to the local community, and in striving for the best in the areas of personal career development, supporting the company’s business expansion and promoting the professionalism of the industry as a whole.
