Third Party Risks Insurance
Any person (including the vehicle owner and driver) has the responsibility of ensuring the presence of a valid third party risks insurance policy in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third Party Risks) Ordinance (Cap. 272, Laws of Hong Kong) for the vehicle concerned whilst using it on roads. The liability to be covered arising out of one event should not be less than HK$100,000,000. Person who contravenes such requirement commits an offence and is liable to a fine of HK$10,000 and imprisonment for 12 months, and will also be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence (for a period of 12 months to 3 years). The Commissioner for Transport may refuse to license the vehicle concerned or cancel the vehicle licence concerned.
